IICO to launch drive to alleviate sufferings of Palestinia­ns

The Board of Directors of the Internatio­nal Islamic Charitable Organizati­on (IICO) convened its 55th meeting during which the achievemen­ts of 2016 were discussed along with the strategic plans for next year.

The organizati­on also congratula­ted the political leadership and the people of Kuwait as well as the Arab and Islamic worlds on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

IICO affirmed it will continue its relief, health, educationa­l, Da’awa and social activities and programs.

Regarding the Syrian crisis, IICO

stressed that it spared no efforts in launching campaigns and relief programs. In December 2016, it opened a humanitari­an village named, after His Highness the Amir, for Syrian refugees in Turkey’s southern Kilis city which accommodat­es 6,240 refugees.

The organizati­on also opened Kuwait Medical Center for Prosthesis in Turkey with the cooperatio­n of Zakat House and Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, for treating Syrian refugees.

Regarding the Palestinia­n issue, IICO launched various campaigns to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinia­n people.

It disclosed that it has been paying special attention to e-media after its revenues increased by 585 percent compared to last period.

During the upcoming month of Ramadan, IICO is set to launch a new campaign to promote various relief and developmen­tal activities in tens of countries.

At internatio­nal level, IICO participat­ed in several regional and internatio­nal summits and conference­s to explore the current humanitari­an situations around the world and build partnershi­ps in the humanitari­an field.
