8,378 among illegal residents amended their status: CSRSIR

Persons revealing their true nationalit­y receive privileges

KUWAIT CITY, May 25, (KUNA): Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) announced that 8,378 individual­s among the illegal residents have amended their status since early 2011 until the end of April 2017.

Director of Amendment Department at CSRSIR Colonel Muhammad AlWaheeb said 5,700 individual­s amended their status for the Saudi nationalit­y and 945 adopted the Iraqi nationalit­y, while 820 changed their status to Syrian and 98 to Iranian, 49 to Jordanian, and 766 adopted the nationalit­ies of other countries.

He called on any illegal resident who wants to amend his status to visit the headquarte­rs of CSRSIR in Ardiya area to resolve the issue, as per prevailing laws of the State of Kuwait. He informed on two procedures; status amendment and identifica­tion of nationalit­y. He explained the two procedures are carried out on correct passports after CSRSIR has verified the documents presented in such cases.

He affirmed that the person amending his status and revealing his true nationalit­y will receive privileges offered by government, among immediate free residency under Article No. 24 (self-sponsorshi­p) valid for five years and renewable for all members of his family, in addition to free education, health services, and food supply with ration card for the family.

Al-Waheeb reiterated the State also grants them priority of employment in government sector after Kuwaitis and exempts them from the salary condition while applying for driving license, plus other privileges and exemptions. Head of kindergart­en and elementary levels at General Department of Private Education Najat Al-Rowaished invited the principals, deputy principals and administra­tors of all elementary Arab private schools to her office for a meeting, the theme of which was “Meeting after diligence in work”. The meeting was KUWAIT CITY, May 25: The Technical Affairs Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf will hold its first meeting for 2017 within a few days to decide on the penalty for three Muezzins and Imams found to have violated the Mosque Charter, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources disclosed these Muezzins and Imams were involved in political issues and criticized certain countries and persons. They added the Muezzin violated the law when he delivered the Friday Sermon instead of the Imam. They added the committee will decide whether the accused will be suspended temporaril­y for a few months or permanentl­y.

Sources said the ministry will also issue a decision instructin­g Muezzins and Imams to prevent unlicensed charitable organizati­ons from collecting donations during Ramadan. Sources added the decision will include a directive for Imams to choose prayers which do not target countries, religious groups or personalit­ies.
