Sons of Bedoun army members to be accepted as ‘volunteers’
Those holding blue card
KUWAIT CITY, May 25: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Muhammad Al-Khalid issued a directive on accepting sons of Bedoun Army members who hold a blue card (searching for nationality) as volunteers in the Kuwaiti Army, reports Al-Anba daily.
This step comes in appreciation of the fathers’ loyal services to Kuwait and in response to calls directed at the minister after the announcement of Assistant Chief of Staff for Administration and Human Resources Major General Khalid Medhi AlShemmari on rejecting the applications of blue card holders.
Military sources confirmed that implementation of the minister’s instruction has started and the applications are being reviewed to identify those who meet the conditions. Sources said the applicants must be between 18 and 26 years old, clarifying it does not matter if the father completed 30 years in service or included in the 1965 Census.
Sources revealed the Administration and Human Resources Department has so far reviewed 5,000 applications; affirming the process will continue during Ramadan and it will end in August 2017. Sources added the number of Bedoun military personnel who hold a military number totaled 43,000.
