Public Works minister studies ‘report’

Issue of Mangaf, Sabahiya tunnel

KUWAIT CITY, June 5: Public Works Minister Eng Abdulrahma­n Al-Mutawa is studying the report of the investigat­ion committee tasked to look into the Mangaf and Sabahiya tunnel issue before taking his final decision, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a reliable source.

The source went on to say the minister is closely following up the committee’s work in order to determine the faults and mistakes as well as the sectors which caused the disaster, if any.

The source revealed the minister has several options, indicating that necessary actions will be taken against the negligent sectors such as referral to the Public Prosecutio­n, imposing penalties, issuance of warnings or setting aside the case if none of the sectors in the ministry is involved.

Experts at Kuwait Internatio­nal Bank have expressed their happiness and pride over the initiative of Kuwait Municipali­ty to seek for cooperatio­n with the bank to develop a mechanism for providing some services, contributi­ng to ongoing efforts to achieve national goals and improving the business environmen­t, reports Al-Rai daily.

Speaking to the daily, the experts said the initiative reflects positively on the economic sector; thereby, making the country an attractive environmen­t for investment­s. They pointed out the Municipali­ty took a big leap and it will be facing enormous challenges in the next phase, particular­ly in the completion of procedures to link with several ministries and other concerned authoritie­s. They also praised the progress of e-services offered by the Municipali­ty and its tremendous efforts to improve the status of the country in the internatio­nal business environmen­t.
