KUWAIT CITY, June 5: A Kuwaiti citizen, who is wanted by law for nonpayment of a debt worth KD 44,000 to a bank, was arrested in Ahmadi area.

According to security sources, Ahmadi securityme­n were patrolling the area when they ordered the driver of a Jeep to pull over and checked his details to discover he is a Kuwaiti citizen who is wanted by law for his involvemen­t in a financial fraud case filed by a bank.

He was arrested and referred to the concerned authoritie­s for necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, an Egyptian expatriate, who is in violation of the residency law and is involved in a case of breach of trust, was arrested and referred to Ardiya Police Station for necessary steps thereafter.

In addition, a Kuwaiti citizen, who is wanted by law for drugrelate­d cases, was arrested and referred to the Drugs Control General Department for necessary legal action.

Couple arrested:

Personnel from the General Department for Residence Affairs, investigat­ions sector, have arrested an Egyptian and his wife for helping patients suffering from Hepatitis C hide their disease before undergoing the medical test prior to obtaining the residence permit, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The daily, quoting a security source said investigat­ions carried out by securityme­n revealed the couple had turned their apartment in Hawalli into a mini clinic to carry out their illegal activity.

The husband and wife were reportedly injecting the Hepatitis C patients with a kind of drug that helps the carriers hide the disease briefly for fees ranging between KD 250 and KD 300 each.

Acting on a tip-off from an unidentifi­ed source, police set a trap for the husband and wife and caught them red-handed also seized from them the marked police money.

Police also seized from the couple a number of related syringes and medicines.

The Undersecre­tary of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Fareed Amadi visited the mosque center of Jaber Al-Ali area along with the Director of Department of Ahmadi Mosques Dr Ahmad Al-Otaibi and Director of Media Department at Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ahmad Al-Qarawi, reports AlSeyassah daily.

Two women – an Egyptian and a Syrian – engaged in a public brawl in Maidan Hawally causing bruises.

In a press statement, the Interior Ministry disclosed its Operations Unit dispatched securityme­n to the area after receiving informatio­n on the incident.

On the other hand, a Kuwaiti woman lodged a complaint at Nusra Police Station against her compatriot husband who allegedly beat her with a stick when they had an argument in their flat in Hawally. She attached a medical report to her complaint.

The husband was summoned for questionin­g and other legal measures.
