Police probe sale of Kuwaiti passport on Net

Cashier robbed at gunpoint

-

KUWAIT CITY, June 5: As everything can be sold now through the social networking websites, a Kuwaiti woman’s passport was offered for sale at one of the e-sites for $124, reports Al-Rai daily.

However, the passport was issued in 1995 and the validity expired in 2000 but the condition of the cover of the passport was in perfect shape. The passport was also not punched as is done with all expired passports.

A security source said investigations are underway to find out why the passport was not punched and how it remained with the owner since it should have been handed over to the Nationality and Passports Department.

Cashier robbed:

Police are looking for unidentified person who broke into the Farwaniya Cooperative Society in broad daylight at 9:00 am and stole KD 500 and cell phone after threatening to shoot the cashier, reports Al-Anba daily.

The cashier said the robber was wearing winter bisht — a traditional men’s cloak popular in some Arab countries. It is essentially a flowing outer cloak made of wool, worn over the robe.

Police are looking at the footage from the CCTV camera.

‘Sign on blank sheet’:

An Indian, born in 1964, has filed a complaint with the Fahaheel Police Station accusing his Kuwaiti sponsor of forcing him to sign and put his fingerprints on a blank paper under threat, reports AlAnba daily.

The complainant said he accepted the invitation of his sponsor for breaking the fast. He did not know the sponsor was plotting against him.

The sponsor shall be summoned for questioning.
