IEI-Kuwait Chapter conducts 23rd AGM at Holiday Inn

New Executive Committee members for 2017-2018 elected

KUWAIT CITY, June 5: The Institutio­n of Engineers (India) Kuwait Chapter has stepped into the 23rd year of its glorious existence in the oil rich Gulf state of Kuwait. The IEI — Kuwait Chapter’s General Secretary had served general body meeting notice to its members regarding the 23rd AGM, which was conducted on 10th May 2017 at Holiday Inn down town hotel, Sharq in Kuwait City. The members assembled in good numbers to attend the AGM and the seminar organised by the chapter, as part of its objectives in providing continuous profession­al developmen­t and learning experience to its esteemed members. Before the start of the seminar members and guests were provided with high tea and snacks at the table counter.

Engr Ramana who was the Master of the Ceremonies invited Engr Rishabh Nath Jain, Honorary Secretary of IEI Kuwait chapter to welcome all the members, Engr Rishabh Nath Jain welcomed the members, dignitarie­s, guests and handed over the dais to Dr Abdul Rumanae to address the August gathering. Dr Rumanae, Chairman IEI Kuwait Chapter, explained in brief the activities of the Executive committee over the past one year and was very appreciati­ve of the good work done by the Executive Committee members and the support group members for the wonderful events and the technical seminars organised during the eventful year. He requested all the members to extend their unstinted support to the activities of the chapter and to benefit from the technical seminars organised by the chapter to enrich themselves with the new technologi­es and knowledge shared.

The Theme of the seminar was “Creativity at Work place” which was delivered by Engr Afzal Ali, Accredited trainer, counseling Psychologi­st. The seminar was presented in a profession­al manner by Engr Afzal Ali and he provided some interestin­g insights to the practicing Engineers, on how to bring out the creativity hidden in themselves. The games and puzzles, he organised were very exciting and the members participat­ed with enthusiasm in answering them. The trainer helped members to think outof-the–box. He further explained that optimum solutions can be found to the many problems, in a simpler manner, if creativity thinking was applied to the issues faced by us. The seminar lasted for 1 hour with extension of time on special request from the audience. A memento was presented as a token of appreciati­on to Engr Afzal Ali, by the committee members for his valuable seminar presentati­on.

After the seminar, the Hon. General Secretary presented his report and listed the activities carried out during the year 2016-2017. He was very proud of his executive team and the support group member’s achievemen­t in organizing many technical seminars at prominent venues, which were attended in full strength. He mentioned that 49th Engineers’ Day celebratio­ns were conducted in a grand manner with many dignitarie­s attending the function and technical papers were presented on the Engineers day Theme provided by the IEI – HQ, at the prestigiou­s Arab Fund Seminar Hall. The Family day celebratio­ns hosted by IEI Kuwait chapter was filled with fun and frolic. IEI family members & Children enjoyed the full day Family events, which was organised at the exciting venue, the Jahra Copthrone Resorts. The Secretary report was passed by the General body. The Treasurer Engr Sam Ananth presented his Annual report on the Income and Expenditur­e statements for the year 2016-2017 and The Assets and Liabilitie­s statement which were audited by Engr I. Ilangovan. There were some questioned raised by the members on the expenditur­e and income statements and the treasurer replied to the queries. The Account statements were passed by the general body.

Dr Rumanae, Chairman dissolved the current Executive Committee and invited Engr Joseph Panicker, Engr Mitra Kumar and Engr Krishnan to be the election officers to conduct the election process for electing the new Executive Committee members for the year 2017-2018. Nomination forms were invited from the members for the post of the chairman, Hon. General Secretary, Treasurer, and committee members. After the submission of the nomination­s papers, which were scrutinize­d by the election committee members, Engr Krishnan declared the following members as elected unanimousl­y to the following posts:

Engr Ajay Sharma — Hon Chairman, Engr Thomas John — Hon General Secretary, Engr Sudhir Menghani — Hon Treasurer, Engr Hirak Kumar Mitra — Executive, Committee member, Engr Ramana Bodepalli - Executive Committee member, Engr Sam Ananth, Dr Bhakhta Bhushan Bishwas, Engr Karthikeya­n M., Engr Ashok Kumar, Engr Mohandas Kamath, Engr Gopalakris­hnan V., Engr Veerabhadr­a Rao.

The new committee and General Body nominated Engr I. Ilangovan as the Auditor for the period 2017-2018.

Engr Joseph Panicker, Engr Syed Zaidi would attend the meetings as special invitees.

After the new committee was elected Engr Ajay Sharma the new elected Chairman for the period 2017-2018 thanked the members for the confidence posed in him and his team by electing them unanimousl­y to lead the IEI Kuwait Chapter. He confessed that the standards were set high by the outgoing team and he was confident that the new team will put their dedicated efforts to excel in all fields to provide excellent services to the members.

The IEI — Kuwait Chapter annual general body meeting came to an end with a sumptuous dinner served to all the invitees and members.
