Minister’s decision to grant scholarships to 180 students to study aviation engineering ‘hailed’
KUWAIT CITY, June 7: Acting Dean of the College of Aviation Technology Engineer Marzouq Al-Shuraifi lauded the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sabeeh’s decision to grant scholarships to 180 students (60 students per year) to study aviation engineering.
In a statement, Engineer AlShuraifi explained the decision was based on a protocol of cooperation signed with the Ministry of Higher Education recently; noting, the decision is plausible at a time when the national carrier is in dire need of manpower.
He assured the College of Aviation Technology in Kuwait is well prepared to provide engineers and technicians the country needs for maintenance of airplanes according to local and international standards. He said the cost of maintenance will be relatively cheap compared to situation whereby government recruits specialists from abroad.
He stressed Boeing and Airbus fleets purchased by Kuwait Airways Corporation, as well as the military and services sector require several maintenance engineers and technicians. He stated the students could be sent on scholarship to the College of Aviation Technology, a wholly Kuwaiti national institution recognized by the European Air Safety Agency (EASA) and locally by Directorate General of Civil Aviation. He explained academic program of the institution is conducted in collaboration with Scotland Training Center at Perth.
It is worthy of note, the center is a reputable international institute where pioneer Kuwaiti Air Force and Kuwait Airways engineers graduated, and very famous globally. It has been operating in Europe since its inception in 1930.
