Fans of the ongoing 38th Late Abdullah Meshari Al-Rawdhan Ramadan Futsal Tournament 2017 experienced delight and were filled with pleasure when they watched the first dream game of this year’s tournament which featured the Manchester United legend and former Welsh football superstar Ryan Giggs, and the former Libyan national team player and Saudi’s Al-Hilal football superstar Tareq el-Tayeb.
The match was between the Zain All-Stars under the captainship of Ryan Giggs and the Arab All-Stars under the captainship of Tareq elTayeb.
The dream game, which had combined several local football stars, had witnessed goals bonanza. It ended with the victory of el-Tayeb team by seven goals against the Giggs team which scored six goals.
Attending the match was Minister of Commerce and Industry and Acting Minister of Youth Affairs Khaled Al-Rawdhan, and Minister of Finance and State Minister for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul along with a huge number of sports personalities and representatives of the sponsoring companies.
During the match, Giggs expressed appreciation and gratitude to the fans by demonstrating his football moves, which showed he still has what it takes when it comes to football, especially Futsal.
The Giggs’ team included the goalkeeper Jassem Alshaya, Yousef Al-Mulla, Falah Abbas, Brazilian footballer Pola, Meshari Al-Nakas, Basser Abdullah and Giggs himself. The team coach was Abdulrahman Al-Muraikhi.
In el-Tayeb’s team were the goalkeeper Abdullah Kurdi, Fahad AlSheikh, Mohammad Shahout, Mohammad Jabbar, Mustafa Nader, Jihad Muntaser and el-Tayeb himself. In his statement, Giggs expressed his honor to be the guest of the tournament, appreciating the invitation that he received from the organizing committee.
He conducted several interviews in which he revealed that he has always been a fan of Manchester United, eventually managing to be a part of the Manchester United team and winning several titles for it. He said he played alongside several superstars under the best-ever Manchester United coach Sir. Alex Ferguson.
Giggs also revealed that he did not receive offers during his professional career because everyone knew he is happy in Manchester United.
He added that it is currently difficult for a player to stay in the same team for a long time.
Meanwhile, the 11th day of the tournament witnessed the qualification of Boubyan Bank team to the second round after they defeated Binraddad Group team by 1-0. This increased Boubyan Bank team’s points to six.
In the second match, McDonalds team defeated the Martyr Fahad AlAhmad team by four goals to one, increasing their total points to four.
In today’s matches, the late Essa Al-Qannaie team will face Kuwait Steel team, the Kuwait International Bank will face the Banking Club team, and Qadsiya team will face the T-Mass team.
In the amateur category, the Kuwait Z team defeated Barcelona team by three goals to nil. In the second match, the Salah Boessa team defeated Salmiya team by two goals through penalty shootouts after the regular match ended goalless. In the third match, Atom Sporting (B) team defeated Al-Shabab (B) team by a score of 2-0.
