American Business Council Kuwait marks Ramadan with Iftar
ABCK members, invited Kuwaitis attend
KUWAIT CITY, June 13: The American Business Council Kuwait (ABCK) hosted an Iftar with their members and invited Kuwaitis who had graduated from universities in the United States on Monday evening at the Millennium Hotel and Convention Centre in Salmiya. Dr Juliet Dinkha, Chair of ABCK, welcomed the members and distinguished guests to the Iftar and talked about the long history of Kuwaitis who were educated in the United States. Alumni from the University of the Pacific, University of Miami, University of Dayton, Arizona State University, University of Chicago and West Virginia University were among the many guests. Representing the alumni from University of the Pacific was Eng Faisal Al-Ragom, President of the Alumni Club, representing the University of Miami was Dr Anwar Al-Naki, President of the Alumni Club, and Reyadh Alrabeah, and representing University of Dayton was Hussain AlBarimi, President of the Alumni Club. ABCK also had the pleasure of having as a guest Jassim Qabazard, graduate of the class of 1972 from the University of the Pacific. Eng Wael Al-Omar, a graduate of the University of the Pacific, Head of Department of Ministry of Justice was also a distinguished guest. Dr Dinkha highlighted the importance of American companies working with Kuwaitis in growing business in Kuwait.
Several ABCK board members spoke about why they had joined ABCK and what they felt that ABCK had to offer members. Najmah Brown, Attorney with Al Adwani Law firm said that networking and educational groups were important to help members learn best business practices in Kuwait. Jack Montgomery, Managing Director Montgomery Executive Search, stated that the interaction with Kuwaitis as well as educational groups equipped Americans doing business in Kuwait with the right tools. Jared Willis, Kuwait General Manager BRG, said that interactions with Kuwaitis was key for American companies to succeed in business. Fred Shuaibi, a founding member of ABCK, stated that using business to bring people together and to promote cultural exchange was important. Jeff Hamilton, Commercial Officer from the Commerce Section of US Embassy stated that they were pleased to have ABCK as their best partner for promoting American businesses in Kuwait. Additionally, ABCK worked with the US
Embassy on hosting various delegations from Washington and conferences that supported educational programs on investing in the USA. Pete Swift, Senior Project Manager with KGL, highlighted that there were lots of opportunities for Americans and Kuwaiti Alumni to work together in growing business for Americans in Kuwait.
Reyadh Alrabeah, alumni from University of Miami, congratulated ABCK on the Iftar and the initiative in bringing together the Kuwaiti alumni and members of the American community and hoped that this was the first of many events upon which to build a strong relationship.
Dr Dinkha closed the evening with a thank you to all of the guests that attended and a wish for them to have a peaceful remaining Ramadan.
