Court rejects plea to release youngest female IS member

Woman hysterical as ‘prince’ flees with children

KUWAIT CITY, June 13: The Criminal Court has rejected petition to release the youngest female DAESH member whom the State Security Department accused of joining the outlawed group in Egypt. The court has since adjourned the case to August 8 for final presentati­ons.

The Public Prosecutio­n alleged the woman joined DAESH from 2015 to April 2017 and even encouraged other people to join the outlawed group with the intention of spreading the principles of ousting a legitimate authority through illegitima­te means. She is reported to have carried out attacks against Egypt without the consent of Kuwaiti government.

The action was regarded as capable of causing face-off or diplomatic row between the two countries. She had gone to Sinai to assist in Jihad activities but couldn’t accomplish her mission following her arrest. She also abused the use of telephone through some calls she made with the intention of spreading DAESH ideology.

Citizen acquitted:

The Misdemeano­r Court acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of libeling and defaming an English language teacher of Ministry of Education through his posts on Twitter. The court dismissed the lawsuit.

The Public Prosecutio­n had charged the citizen of misusing the social media platform by posting statements deemed offensive to the victim, her honor and her reputation.

The defense counsel Lawyer Abdulmohse­n Al-Qattan highlighte­d the lack of substance and incriminat­ing evidences against his client.

Prince flees with kids:

A Kuwaiti woman is said to have become hysterical after she discovered her Kuwait Fire Service Directorat­e (KFSD) Monday organized the graduation ceremony for a new batch of 39 non-commission­ed officers who were decorated with the rank of ‘Sergeant’ inside the Main Administra­tion Office. The ceremony was held under the auspices of the Director General of KFSD Lieutenant General Khalid Al-Mekrad. Other senior officers in attendance included the Deputy Director General for Human Resources Developmen­t Major General Khalid Al-Tarkit and Deputy Director General for Firefighti­ng Affairs

The woman is a divorcee and the custody of the children was given to the mother by the court in Kuwait.

Then father reportedly told the mother he wanted to spend some time with the children and is said to have left the country without her knowledge.

The daily added, the authoritie­s in Kuwait have addressed the Interpol to bring the children back to Kuwait.

Reports denied:

Deputy DirectorGe­neral of the Kuwait Municipali­ty Khalaf Al-Mutairi has strongly denied social media reports that rotten foodstuffs were allowed to enter Kuwait, reports Al-Shahed daily.

He affirmed the Imported Foodstuff Department is vigilant 24x7

and is doing its duty in the best interests of the citizens and residents to protect the national food security and health of every consumer.

Al-Mutairi stressed the department always ensures all food items entering Kuwait via land, sea or air are safe and suitable for consumptio­n.

Thief arrested:

Officers from the Criminal Security Department apprehende­d a Bedoun man who stole KD 10,000 from a Kuwaiti citizen.

Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry stated the citizen filed a complaint that an unknown person had stolen KD 10000 he withdrew from a bank after parking his vehicle in front of his house.

Security operatives arriving at the scene checked CCTV camera installed at the surroundin­g area and saw a person walking from the citizen’s vehicle to another vehicle

waiting on the other side of the road. However, it could not spot the number plate of the vehicle.

Intensive investigat­ion revealed the identity of the suspect. Upon arrest, he named the driver of the vehicle seen in the CCTV footage as his brother and partner in crime.

Test drive robbery:

Police are looking for an unidentifi­ed person for cheating an Egyptian and stealing his car, reports Al-Anba daily.

A security source said according to a complaint filed by the Egyptian with the Nugra Police Station, he put his car for sale on the e-media and the suspect answered the advertisem­ent and offered to buy it.

Both men met at an agreed place and the suspect before deciding to buy said he wanted to test drive the vehicle, got behind the steering wheel and drove off.
