KUWAIT CITY, June 17: Ministry of Education has received a letter from Civil Service Commission (CSC) asking for a detailed valuation of housing allowance for female expatriate teachers, which the commission approved for retroactive payment, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily quoting a source noted the Finance Sector on four occasions had requested budget appropriation for the disbursement of housing allowance to female expatriate teachers, which was valued at KD47 million. He said the ministry had responded to Finance Sector’s request and expected transfer of funds into the account.

Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs in the Ministry of Education Yousef Al-Najar says he has yet to receive from Administrative Affairs Sector the list of names of academic and administrative staff selected for the excellent performance bonus. He assured the sum will be paid into the accounts of beneficiaries immediately after the list is received. He reiterated a sum of KD 58 million has already been allocated for this purpose.

Ministry of Commerce and Industry has not made any changes to its decision to not grant any type of licenses to government employees including license for home businesses which is expected to be issued starting from the first official working day after Eid Al-Fitr holidays, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that employees of the public sector made several inquiries to the ministry especially regarding home business (microenterprise) licenses.

They wanted to know whether the employees of the sector are excluded, like in the current laws.

The ministry responded that it is not allowed for public sector employees to obtain these licenses as such a step will be against the Civil Service Law.

The ministry said there will not be any employment support for microenterprises.
