MP anger over disarray in post

- By Abubakar A. Ibrahim

KUWAIT CITY, June 20: MP Ahmed Al-Fadel has presented a proposal on the non-recruitment of expatriates, who hold higher education certificates, in government and State institutions unless they obtain approval and certificate accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education.

He explained the State institutions usually require citizens with masters and doctorate degrees to have their certificates attested by official agencies — both in Kuwait and the countries where they completed higher studies, indicating this condition is applied on citizens but not the expatriates.

In another development, MP Abdul Kareem Al-Kandari has asked State Minister for Services and Housing Affairs Yasser Aboul to form a commission of inquiry to investigate the

accumulation of mails at Kuwait International Airport and post offices considering the chaos, abuse and rampant robbery in these offices.

He asserted the State Ministry for Services must focus on the postal system in the country as it has been deteriorating continuously, such that citizens have no option but go to private postal companies despite the exorbitant fees. He said the postal services in other parts of the world are good — a manifestation of other countries’ concern for their people, but this is not the case in Kuwait.

Meanwhile, MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri has forwarded questions to Finance Minister Anas Al-Saleh about investments of Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) and the Public Authority for Social Security (PASS).

He wants to know the local and foreign entities in which KIA owns more than 10 percent — whether real estate, shares and bonds among others. He demanded for details of investments that KIA has pulled out or intends to do so, reasons for taking such a step, copies of related documents and investments made by the authority from 2014 till date. have also trained thousands of “volunteers” to battle alongside President Bashar al-Assad’s forces in Syria.

The United States has had no diplomatic relations with Iran since the aftermath of the Islamic revolution of 1979 and its interests are looked after by Switzerland.
