KIB sponsors Diabetes Challenge Trip
Blue Circle’s event focuses on raising awareness
KUWAIT CITY, June 20: As part of its ongoing commitment to promote health awareness across all segments of the community, Kuwait International Bank (KIB) recently sponsored the ‘Diabetes Challenge Trip’ organized by Blue Circle; the non-profit movement founded by a group of local diabetic youth. The initiative focused on raising awareness about diabetes by sending a group of diabetic youth on a trip to Austria to take part in a number of challenging sporting activities.
Every year, Blue Circle, a voluntary group working with the support of Kuwait Diabetes Society (KDS), seeks to highlight how diabetic patients are able to take charge of their conditions and successfully take part in demanding and challenging activities, irrespective of their diagnosis. This year, Blue Circle members embarked on an empowering trip, highlighting a diabetic’s ability to live a normal and fulfilling life and in doing so, correct misconceptions about diabetic patients, both locally and internationally.
Most importantly, the trip provided members with the opportunity to learn about a range of valuable nutritional information, and engage in healthy physical activity, thereby encouraging a healthier and more active lifestyle. Additionally, the entirety of the trip was filmed to create a documentary to showcase the various physical challenges faced throughout the trip, meanwhile underscoring a diabetic patient’s determination and strong will.
Nawaf Najia, Manager of the Corporate Communications Unit at KIB, said: “KIB is always eager to support and sponsor health-based initiatives that seek to enhance the quality of life for all segments of the community, actively seeking to raise awareness and drive real change in the community. As a leading local financial institution, we believe we are active partners in social development, and thereby must continue to offer our support to local youth projects and initiatives. Our sponsorship of Blue Circle’s initiative reflects our shared goal of promoting a better quality of life and well-being across Kuwait.”
He added that this marks the second time that KIB lends its support to Blue Circle, stemming from its belief in the importance of supporting healthcarefocused initiatives and promoting a greater sense of health consciousness across the country. Through its leading and comprehensive social responsibility program, KIB continues to sponsor initiatives and activities that aim to contribute to the development of the local community, particularly those that promote a culture of health awareness, volunteering, collaborative initiatives and non-profit programs.
