Panel set to invite Al-Ghanim after Eid to look into ‘citizenshi­p’ issue

KUWAIT CITY, June 21: MP Salah Khorshid, a member of the parliament’s Interior and Defense Committee, which has mandated to study the speculatio­ns raised recently regarding the issue related to fraudulent acquisitio­n of Kuwaiti citizenshi­p, revealed that the committee, immediatel­y after the Eid holidays, will invite the National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim to look at the informatio­n the committee has concerning the case, reports Al-Rai daily.

He explained that the meeting of the fact-finding committee was supposed to be held during the course of the month of Ramadan but it was postponed to after the Eid holidays due to the absence of the National Assembly Speaker, as he was in Makkah performing “Umra” (minor pilgrimage).

The committee will first meet with the National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim to discuss the informatio­n obtained during a parliament­ary session last April, and any other informatio­n he possesses about the issue.

The meeting with the speaker will be followed by inviting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah to inquire about the informatio­n that the ministry possesses in this regard.

MP Salah Khorshid said, “The committee will present several specific inquiries concerning the case to the Interior Ministry including the informatio­n which is already out in the public”.

Al-Ghanim congratula­tes Saudi Crown Prince:

National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim on Wednesday sent a congratula­tory cable to Chairman of the Saudi Shura Council (Consultati­ve Assembly) Dr Abdullah Al-Sheikh on the appointmen­t of Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Crown Prince as well as Deputy Premier besides his position as Defense Minister.

In his cable, Al-Ghanim wished the Crown Prince further success in serving the nation, carrying on with the march of developmen­t and building led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Al-Kharji to cast in Sa’adat Al-Safeer’: Kuwaiti artiste Zahra Al-Kharji is busy rehearsing for her new play entitled, “Sa’adat Al-Safeer” (His Excellency the Ambassador), reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The play was written by Othman Al-Shatti and it is under the direction of AbdulMohse­n Al-Omar while the cast include Dawood Hussein, AbdulMohse­n Al-Omar, Lulwa Al-Mullah and many young artistes. It will be shown on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr at Duaij Al-Khalifa Al-Sabah Theater.
