Moderation center to hold training for police officers

‘Diwaniya visitation project huge success’

KUWAIT CITY, June 22: Assistant Undersecre­tary of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Head of the Supreme Committee for Promotion of Religious Moderation Eng Fared Asad Emadi declared that the ministry and the moderation center have designated courses for more than 3,000 guidance officials in Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Ministry of Education, reports Al-Anba daily.

In an interview, Eng Emadi revealed that the ministry and the moderation center will organize training courses for the military and police officers of Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense and the National Guard.

He stressed that the danger is greater when extremist ideologies creep into military institutio­ns, because its personnel are always ready with their weapons, adding, “If a soldier or police officer possess even a tiny bit of extremist ideology, that person immediatel­y becomes a “time bomb”.

Eng Emadi explained that the Diwaniya visitation project was a huge success, as some might follow extremist ideology but would not reveal it, even though it is possible to identify one’s ideology through intellectu­al dialogues.

He indicated about a huge cooperatio­n with Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense and the National Guard, affirming, “Currently, those institutio­ns are being assisted in endorsing some of the academic syllabus and programs for cadets in the military and police academy because of their keenness to instill concepts and virtues which enhance and promote moderation in the military institutio­ns”.

Eng Emadi revealed about a new project titled “Fortificat­ion” which will be launched at the start of next year after it is endorsed by the Supreme Committee for Promotion of Religious Moderation.

He explained that the objective of the project is to engage students of universiti­es and schools in discussion­s, and to talk with them in classes in order to instill concepts of religious moderation.
