Co-ops empowered to help hire domestics from abroad

‘Houses ready in Metla’a, Sulaibikha­t’

KUWAIT CITY, June 22: Al-Durra Domestic Workers Recruitmen­t Company has specified one cooperativ­e society in each governorat­e for the submission of applicatio­ns for hiring domestic workers from abroad, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed the concerned cooperativ­e societies include Rawda and Hawally Cooperativ­e Society in the Capital Governorat­e, Zahra Cooperativ­e Society in Hawally Governorat­e, Naseem Cooperativ­e Society in Jahra Governorat­e, Fahaheel Cooperativ­e Society in Ahmadi Governorat­e, Adan and Qosor Cooperativ­e Society in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorat­e and Ishbiliya Cooperativ­e Society in Farwaniya Governorat­e.

Sources said the board chairperso­ns of these cooperativ­es had been asked earlier to allocate an appropriat­e space to serve as the company’s center for receiving applicatio­ns from those who need to recruit domestic workers from abroad. Sources added these applicatio­n centers will be equipped with automated networks to expedite the processing of applicatio­ns.

Meanwhile, Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance Anas Al-Saleh confirmed that the company will start operating towards the end of August.

It has been reported that the Consumer Cooperativ­e Societies Union contribute­d 60 percent of the company’s capital, in addition to Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), Public Authority for Social Security (PASS) and Kuwait Airways Corporatio­n (KAC).

Official Spokespers­on of the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) Eng Ibrahim Al-Nashi has called on citizens who submitted their housing grant applicatio­ns until the end of 2013 and are interested in getting a house in South Metla’a Residentia­l City to visit the authority in order to complete the necessary procedures, reports Al-Anba daily.

On the other hand, AlNashi disclosed in a press statement that the door is still open for those who submitted their housing grant applicatio­ns until the end of 2009 to benefit from the vertical housing project in Northwest Sulaibikha­t where 35 houses are still available.

The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has affirmed there is no ban on the import of Egyptian strawberri­es, reports Al-Rai daily.

Deputy Director General for Technical Affairs and Chairperso­n of the Supreme Council for Food Safety in the authority Dr Reem Al-Fulaij said Kuwait is very cautious when it comes to food safety and any item or product proven to be unsafe will not be allowed to enter the country, asserting all the necessary measures have been taken to protect the entire society.
