KUWAIT CITY, June 22: An Egyptian employee of the Interior Ministry was arrested for using patrol car bearing the ministry’s emblem for contract activities, and transporting laborers in Sabah Al-Ahmed City.
A security source said a person tipped off the Observation and Checking Unit about an Egyptian employee of the ministry involved in contractual activities and providing transport for laborers. A team of detectives was formed to follow up the case, and he was caught red-handed transferring laborers from an under-construction site in Sabah Al-Ahmad City. The suspect has since been suspended from duty.
In the meantime, Director of Observation has issued a directive to investigate head of the section where the suspect is employed.
Filipina harassed:
A Filipino lady filed a complaint with the police accusing an Egyptian man of sexual harassment, and added the man incited her via SMS to commit immorality.
Apparently, the lady encountered the Egyptian man while looking for a counselor to resolve pending legal issues. They went ahead to exchange mobile number after he agreed to help her, so she was surprised when suddenly the man started sending her SMS inciting her to commit immoral acts with him. The lady threatened to lodge a complaint if he continued the unacceptable act, but he declined to back-off. She provided details of the man to the police, and a case was registered against him.
Drug peddlers held:
Anti-narcotics men apprehended a drugtrafficking gang of Bedoun and Asian nationals, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
A security source said a team of detectives was formed to follow up a tip-off the General Drug Control Department (GDCD) received about the activities of the gang, and after confirming validity of the information, detectives raided their hub, arrested all four suspects, and recovered 150 grams of heroin valued at 100 thousand dinars. They admitted ownership of the drugs, which they were intending to sell to customers. Public Relations Department of GDCD stated the sector will continue the fight against drug trafficking to sustain security and safety in society.
Officer summoned:
Observation and Checking Department of the Interior Ministry has summoned a police officer who beat detainees in Andalous police station for questioning.
The decision follows a recent video that went viral on social media showing the brutal act of the officer beating individuals in custody. Necessary action will be taken against him.
Doctor insulted:
A doctor working in Jahra Hospital accused a GCC national of verbally assaulting him in the course of duty.
A security source said the doctor told officers in Nayem Police Station the GCC national insulted him in public while on duty at the hospital. A case was registered.
Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti engineer employed by the Ministry of Electricity and Water said three individuals verbally assaulted him in Khaitan area due to former disputes. A case was registered for investigation.
Bedoun stabbed:
A Bedoun youth was referred to the Intensive Care Unit of Jahra Hospital with stab wound in the back inflicted by a Kuwaiti youth during a fight in Saad Al-Abdullah area. A passerby is said to have transported the injured youth to the hospital
A security source said a rescue team followed up the issue after the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry had been about the incident. The officers find out a Kuwaiti youth had stabbed the Bedoun in a fight. They managed to arrest the suspect. He will be delivered to the Public Prosecution.
Liquor seized:
Police have arrested an Asian man and are looking for another for bootlegging, reports Al-Shahed daily. A police source said the Asian was arrested in Khaitan after he attempted to escape leaving behind the booze filled in polyethylene bags inside his car. The suspect was arrested in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and when police ordered him to stop; he parked on the side of the road, got out of the car and continued running.
