Veteran astronomer Dr Al-Ojairi marks 97th birthday
In a joyous atmosphere, the 97th birthday of veteran astronomer Dr Saleh Al-Ojairi was celebrated at the Late Bargas Hamoud Al-Bargas Diwaniya in Shuwaikh Residential Area in the presence of his friends and fans, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Dr Al-Ojairi said, “Even though I am 97 years old, can see with one eye and walk on one foot, I say Thank God”. To the visitors, he said, “This occasion is dear to me because of your participation”.
Dr Al-Ojairi expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad for participating in his birthday celebration. He commended the tremendous role played by the Al-Bargas Family in celebrating his birthday annually.
Meanwhile, former MP Abdulaziz Al-Mutawa said, “When I was an MP, I had proposed to equip Al-Ojairi’s home with special devices to obtain information quickly. He then called me to confirm that the state honored him by granting him an honorary doctorate and naming the observatory after him”.
He affirmed that Al-Ojairi was and still is the owner of initiatives, adding that he wishes the young generation will benefit from his knowledge and expertise.
In addition, Dari Bargas Al-Bargas said the celebration of Al-Ojairi’s birthday has become an annual event based on the initiative of his late father Bargas Hamoud Al-Bargas.
