Bank, KFSD to probe South Surra fire

KUWAIT CITY, June 24, (KUNA): Deputy Board Director General of Kuwait Credit Bank Salah Al-Mudhef announced commencing an investigation in coordination with the concerned government apparatus to determine the circumstances of the fire that razed 19,000 sq/m area of an under-construction building in South Surra recently.
Al-Mudhef indicated the bank is directly communicating with Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) to follow up the progression of investigation, as to the source of fire that consumed a huge area designated to be the bank’s main headquarters in the near future.
He commended the major role played by firefighters in containing and extinguishing the fire in a record time, and also praised the presence of the State Minister for Cabinet Affairs and acting Minister of Information, Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak AlSabah, alongside the State Minister for Housing and Services Affairs Yasser Abul to follow up the fireout operation at firsthand.
Meanwhile, Director-General of the Kuwait Fire Services Directorate Lt Colonel Khalid Al-Mikrad said fire engines from eight centers controlled the fire which broke out in a building under construction in South Surrah in the Ministries Zone, reports Al-Anba daily.
Quick response by the firemen prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings.
In a press statement, Al-Mikrad said the build is owned by the Credit Bank. He indicated the total area of the building is 19,000 square meters and 8,000 square meters was on fire.
