Ramadan. (AFP) KUWAIT CITY, June 24, (KUNA): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has taken all precautionary and preventive measures in preparation for the Eid of Al-Fitr, director of the ministry’s Security Media and Public Relations Department Brigadier Adel Al-Hashash said on Saturday. A security plan was set up for the Eid, with the aim of controlling traffic at roads and intersections across the country in order to avoid congestion, Al-Hashash added in a press statement.

The plan is in line with instructions by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah that call for harnessing all potentials and taking all measures to fulfill the joy of citizens and residents during the Eid holidays, he noted.

There is coordination round the clock among all security directorates and concerned bodies to carry out the plan, he affirmed. The security forces will deal decisively with negative behaviors like disturbance or quarrel, he warned.

Al-Hashash appealed to parents to care for their children, namely at malls, markets and commercial places, and to drivers not to use mobile phones while driving.

He also urged people not to park at the places allocated to the disabled, warning that the ministry will confront immediately anybody who violates these rules.

He pointed out that the sector of ports security affairs has a key role in facilitating matters for passengers at the Kuwait International Airport and land ports across the country.

The department’s plan is working on fulfilling an awareness campaign fit for the Eid holidays, he said.

The plan also aims to manifest the general rules so as to maintain safety of citizens and residents and make them happy during this occasion, he made clear.

Finally, Al-Hashash congratulated both Kuwaitis and expatriates on Eid Al-Fitr, wishing the State of Kuwait many returns of this occasion with further prosperity, joy and blessings, under the wisdom of the supreme leadership.

Visas for clerics:

The Interior Ministry is planning to set up a special mechanism to issue visas to clerics belonging to different sects, Sunni and Shiite, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, this is to prevent the entry of controversial people into the country. However, before granting visas the files of preachers and imams will be thoroughly checked.

An informed source pointed out the mechanism will get rid of some of the problems faced by the preachers and clerics to enter Kuwait because it is a common knowledge that there are some preachers out there to abuse some sects.

Earlier, it was reported the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah in response to demands of some MPs and community leaders had deported the Shiite cleric Al-Karbalani for allegedly abusing the companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad. (PBUH).

Fears allayed:

Fifty black cameras which have been installed by the General Traffic Department along ring roads and some expressways have aroused the concern of motorists, reports Al-Anba daily.

The motorists are of the opinion that these cameras may be taking pictures of the man behind the wheel if he/she is using cell phones while driving, reckless driving and not wearing the seatbelt.

However, a traffic source has poured cold water over such rumors. The source said the black cameras record three violations — exceeding the speed limit in both directions, driving on the shoulders of the road during unspecified hours and taking pictures of the trucks which do not comply with the speed limit and driving during non-specified hours.

Egyptian swindled:

An Egyptian man has filed a complaint with the Ardhiya Police Station accusing an unidentified person, believed to be a Kuwaiti, of swindling him, reports Al-Rai daily.

The complainant told police he met the man at a café and while talking he claimed he knows many influential people in government institutions and said he could help the man to get a driving licence.

The Egyptian said he gave the man KD 550 to help him get the licence because he is not eligible to get the licence and the Kuwaiti kept the money for himself and put off his cell phone.
