Firemen control Jahra, Amghara fires

Some four fire department­s, including Jahra, Sulaibikha­t and Farwaniyah, are handling the fire spread out across a 3,000 sq/km radius, the Kuwait Fire Service Directorat­e said in a statement.

No further informatio­n was provided.

Meanwhile, firefighte­rs have extinguish­ed a huge fire that erupted earlier on Saturday in the industrial district of Amghara.

The blazes that broke out at a large metals’ factory dumpsite in Amghara Industrial Area, west of the capital, were put out later in the day.

Four fire department­s, including Jahra, Sulaibikha­t and Farwaniyah, handled the fire that spread out across a 1,000 sq/m radius, the Kuwait Fire Service Directorat­e said in a statement.

The fire fighters fought the fire for nearly three hours at the dumpsite.

Minister of Commerce and Industry, Acting Minister of State for Youth Affairs Khaled Al-Roudhan and General Director of the Public Authority for Industry Abdulkarim Taqi were present at the scene. The fire caused no injuries. (KUNA)
