Al-Roumi, Al-Yousef rule Rawdhan Futsal Tournament
The Late Ahmad Al-Roumi team were declared winners of the 38th edition of the Late Abdullah Meshari Al-Rawdhan Futsal Tournament 2017, after they defeated the BMW team in the finals. The team of Late Khaled AlYousef emerged as tournament champions in the amateur’s category. His Highness the Amir’s representative and the patron of the tournament — the State Minister for Cabinet Affairs and acting Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah — presented the championship trophies to the senior and amateur winning teams of the tournament. He also honored the sponsors of the tournament.
The final day of the matches witnessed distinguished atmosphere as usual. A huge crowd of fans converged to watch the closing ceremony of the 38th Late Abdullah Meshari Al-Rawdhan Futsal Tournament 2017, and the extinguishing of its flame to ensure further success of the tournament, which has been gaining popularity with every new edition both regionally and internationally.
In the final match of senior category between the teams of BMW and the Late Ahmad Al-Roumi, the defensive style of football dominated the performance. The first half witnessed very few attacks despite the great efforts exerted by BMW team to break the late Ahmad Al-Roumi team’s defense.
The second half of the match was more active with attacks from both sides. However, no side was able to score a goal during normal time, which led to penalty shootouts in which the late Ahmadi Al-Roumi won with a score of 6-5.
The overall best player of the tournament award went to the Brazilian footballer Pachino from the BMW team. The overall best goalkeeper award went to Mahmoud Taqi from the Late Ahmad Al-Roumi team. The ideal team award went to the Kuwait International Bank team.
The amateur’s category also witnessed remarkable performance from the winning team — the late Sheikh Khaled Al-Yousef team, which managed to defeat the late Dhari Al-Othman team by an impressive score of 6-0. Both teams showcased high skills and performance but the late Sheikh Khaled Al-Yousef team appeared to be better in their quest for goals.
Present during the honoring event was the National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Honorary Chairperson of the tournament Hawally Governor ret. General Ahmad Al-Nawaf, Advisor in the Office of the Crown Prince Nasser Al-Roudhan and Secretary General of the Cabinet Abdullatif Al-Roudhan.
Also present was the Chief Executive Officer of Zain Telecommunications Company, Kuwait Eaman AlRoudhan, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Nasser Al-Khater and Treasurer of Kuwait Sports Club Khaled Al-Ghanim.
