KMMP organises grand Iftar

Kuwait Maathamizh Marabu Paattarai (KMMP) organized a grand Iftar on June 27, Farwaniya. The program commenced with recitation of verses from Holy Quran by Janab Vittukatti Masthan. The Associatio­n’s founder co-ordinator Pattukkott­ai Sathyan welcomed all of the attendees. Over hundreds of people including dignitarie­s from various walks of life, representa­tives from a number of Kuwait based Tamil associatio­ns, participat­ed in the Iftar event. Moulavi Nazeer Ahmed Jamali, special guest from India (for IGC-Kuwait) graced the occasion with his mind provoking keynote Islamic speech. Fellow office bearers conveyed best wishes in their address. At the end of this first session, Poet G. Dhandabaan­i, Program Co-ordinator, KMMP, delivered the vote of thanks for the gathering.

The second session was scheduled as a wonderful “Symposium” on the literary works by the late veteran Tamil scholars “Kavikko” Abdur Rehman and “Tamil Maamani” Vellai Vaarananaa­r. Er Pazhanivel Murugan (Grandson of the great Tamil scholar Vellai Varananar) graced the function as the chief guest. Splendid discourses were offered by Poet S. Sathik Batcha, Hon President of Kuwait Tamilosai Poets Associatio­n on Kavikko’s works and renowned Tamil orator Vaasu Ramanathan (Tutor, Traditiona­l Tamil Music division, KMMP) on Vellai Varananaar’s works respective­ly. This session was presided over by Er Saamidurai, President-Kuwait Thirumurai Mandram. Poetess cum photograph­er Mrs Nazema presented an awesome poem in her well wishing note. Pazhani shared some glittering memories of his Grandfathe­r, related to Vaarananaa­r’s outstandin­g contributi­on to Tamil and Saivam literature­s. He was felicitate­d by Er Somasundar­am, coordinato­r of “Deiva Sekkizhar PeravaiKuw­ait” on behalf of KMMP. Poet UK Sivakumar recited a poem in his vote of thanks for the session which concluded at 9:45 pm.
