‘Kuwaitis constitute 85 pc of new appointments by MoE’
Infrastructure works to be completed Q1 2020
KUWAIT CITY, June 28: The Ministry of Education has announced that Kuwaitis constitute 85 percent of new appointments in its sectors, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Speaking to the daily, Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs Fahad Al-Ghais disclosed a total of 6,089 teachers and executives were appointed from April 1, 2016 to March 12, 2017 according to the first supplementary accreditation listed on the project for the budget of the next school year.
He added 5,072 Kuwaiti employees were appointed — 3,950 in the fourth degree and 1,122 in the fifth degree; whereas 1,017 non-Kuwaitis were appointed on second contracts as teachers in various subjects as well as social and psychological researchers.
In another development, Al-Anba daily has reported that the ministry informed the educational districts about the transfer of non-Kuwaiti and Gulf Islamic subject teachers from Ahmadi Educational District to Hawally Educational District and from Jahra Educational District to Capital Educational District.
The decision includes transfer of five French Language teachers from Hawally Educational District to Capital Educational District, 30 Gulf Science teachers from Ahmadi Educational District to Hawally Educational District, 10 Décor teachers from Ahmadi Educational District to Farwaniya Educational District, 10 Electricity subject teachers from Hawally Educational District to Capital Educational District, and nine teachers of the same subject from Mubarak Al-Kabeer Educational District to Jahra Educational District.
Meanwhile, the infrastructure works that the Ministry of Public Works will carry out in Kheitan, in coordination with Kuwait Municipality and Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW), will be completed by the first quarter of 2020, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.
Sources said the infrastructure works will be done in two phases, indicating the first phase will commence next May and will continue for 24 months.
The Cabinet intends to merge the following institutions by the end of summer: the Public Authority for Holy Quran with the Ministry of Awqaf, the Public Authority for Youths with the State Ministry for Youth Affairs, and the Private System with the Public-Private Partnership Authority, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.
