Minister receives int’l award winning KU’s 3 teaching staff
Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Muhammad Al-Fares received three members of Kuwait University’s teaching staff who have won various international awards for research in their respective fields.
The minister’s reception was attended by Kuwait University President Professor Hussein Ahmad Al-Ansari, and those received by the minister were Professor Abdul-Majeed Safar from the Faculty of Science, Dr Salah Al-Najem from the Faculty of Arts and Dr Kamal Al-Shoumar from the Faculty of Medicine.
On this occasion, Dr Al-Fares congratulated the researchers for winning international awards and praised them on the overall achievements of the university’s lecturers and their participation in international academic arenas.
He affirmed that such achievements raise Kuwait University’s reputation high among the global universities and strengthen status of the State of Kuwait while bringing to light its development in the field of ICT in the international forum. He commended their effective role in lifting and enhancing Kuwait University’s status in the academic course of the country.
The winning researchers included Professor Abdul-Majeed Safar from the Faculty of Science who came second with his project ‘Histonano Website (HNS)’ at the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS Forum 2017) for E-Science Category.
The ‘histonano.com’ or HNS is a multidisciplinary site for Histology, Histopathology, Cell Biology, Histotechnology and Nanoscopy Sciences. It is among the primary resources for students, educators, scientists and health science centers interested in the field of science for both teaching and research purposes.
The other winning researcher was Dr Salah Al-Najem from the Faculty of Arts — Arabic Language, whose project won the E-Learning and Virtual Classroom System category in the WSIS Forum 2017, and Dr Kamal Shoumar from the Faculty of Medicine who won the international award of excellence presented by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) International Clinical Award 2017.
