Fahad Al-Daihani
KUWAIT CITY, June 28: Fahad AlDaihani, the Deputy CEO of Mina AlAhmadi Refinery at Kuwait National Petroleum Company disclosed that the refinery has allocated KD 14 million to carry out the scheduled maintenance work in the refinery units during the fiscal year 2017/2018, reports Al-Anba daily.
Al-Daihani said the scheduled maintenance of the units in October will reduce the capacity of the refinery to 322,000 bpd from the current level of 442,000 bpd.
He affirmed that Al-Ahmadi Refinery is covering all the needs of the local market following the closure of Shuaiba Refinery last April, stressing that fuel derivatives for vehicles will not be imported unless there is a maintenance plan for the main production units and when needed.
Al-Daihani indicated that the sulfur handling project is under construction and the new unit will be operational in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2017/2018 at a cost of KD 147 million.
He explained that the gas import facility at the refinery received 53 shipments of natural gas during the fiscal year 2016/2017. The volume pumped to Ministry of Electricity reached a maximum of approximately 750 million cubic feet per day. The project of the fifth gas line is in full swing. The completion rate of the project has reached 42 percent, and is expected to be operational in 2018.
