KUWAIT CITY, June 28: Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohammad AlFares revealed that the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has approved the request made by the ministry to provide necessary job titles for employing new male and female expatriate teachers, reports Al-Anba daily.

In his statement, the minister said the approval has come based on the request made two months ago by Ministry of Education to CSC concerning its need for expatriate teaching staff.

Dr Al-Fares declared that the decision to employ them will be issued next August before the start of the new academic year for teachers, which is due on Sept 5, indicating about the coordination between the ministry and Ministry of Finance to agree on the procedures and necessary requirements for job titles before the end of July.

He clarified that this early coordination aims at filling the shortage of teachers at a suitable time, which is before the start of the new academic year of 2017/2018, adding that the expatriate teachers will be mostly for the subjects (majors) for which the ministry are still in need.

Dr Al-Fares revealed about a reform plan that focuses on coordination with the higher learning institutions with the aim of encouraging students to specialize in various majors for which national manpower is in short supply.

He highlighted that the priority is for employing Kuwaiti teachers, adding that the ministry will not end its efforts in creating suitable atmosphere for the national and expatriate manpower which would enable them to perform their role in serving the education and teaching process in a manner that will benefit the children of this country.
