KUWAIT CITY, June 28: The Court of Appeals nullified the verdict of the Court of First Instance that jailed an alleged drug trafficker for life on charges of peddling in heroin, avion and other intoxicants. The Appellate Court thereby acquitted the suspect for lack of sufficient proof in the prosecution documents.

The prosecution officer from Drug Control General Department indicated the sector received intelligence concerning the activities of the suspect, indicating he was in possession of illicit drugs and intoxicants meant for consumption and sale.

Anti-narcotics officers stormed the suspect’s residence at the right time and found him in a disoriented state. They conducted a search in his room and recovered a scale and a plastic container with drugs. He was arrested after admitting ownership of the contraband.

In his defense, Lawyer En’am Haider faulted the procedures that led to his client’s search and arrest. He implored the court to acquit the suspect for lack of sufficient proof in the prosecution documents.
