CHICAGO, June 28, (AFP): Five-time Olympic champion Katie Ledecky won the 800-meter freestyle Tuesday at the US Swim Championships with this year’s fastest time in the world only 25 minutes after another final.

World record-holder and reigning world and Olympic champion Ledecky, who placed sixth in the 100 free, took the 800 crown in 8mins 11.50secs with Leah Smith, sixth at Rio, taking second, 8.96 seconds back.

Ledecky could swim in four individual events and two relays at next month’s World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, with a strong showing at this five-day meet in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“It’s important to get the job done here and get to Budapest and do a lot,” Ledecky said. “So far I’m

Siete Pares 1 team

Out to keep their position in the team standings, Siete Pares 1 despite missing some of their key bowlers successfully retained fourth place ranking after stopping IBL Team 2 one of the tournament front runners 3163-3010.

The match bowled on lanes 7 and 8 rolled with Siete Pares 1 taking the early lead through a 793-732 win in the opening game. The hot spicy IBL Team 2 keglers then grabbed the driver’s seat as the quartet of Abdullah Al Ali, Fatima Sequeira, Rudolph Castellino and Allen Morais eked out a 789780 victory in game two.

Siete Pares 1 however managed to move in front once again by prevailing in game three 829-752. And with Egay Cabildo, Rico Galang, Manny Nazaire, Jazel Pangilinan and Ritz Vidana manning the lanes, Siete Pares 1 romped home with a convincing 836737 win in the last game of the match.

Dyn Aviation on the other hand made it to the week 7 winner’s circle by coming back strong from a game one setback to beat the Cozmo Salmiya entertainment magnates 3157-3905.

Led by Cris Batucan and Bader Malallah who both rolled 200 games together with Bert Pantanilla and Dexter Nebres, Cozmo Salmiya pounded the aviators in game one 863-718.

In the next game Dyn Aviation reduced the deficit to just seven marks

crowns and adding the 200 world title in 2015 at Russia.

Mallory Comerford, who matched Ledecky for the 200-yard free US college crown, won the women’s 100 free in 52.81 seconds, shaving 1.1 seconds off her pre-meet personal best.

Rio Olympic co-champion Simone Manuel was second in 53.05.

Ledecky was sixth in 54.35, matching her seed position. That, combined with the secondbest US split time on the Rio 4x100 free relay, should make her a contender to swim the same relay at Budapest.

“All of us want to throw down some good times,” Ledecky said. “We want to keep that momentum going from 2016.”

Ledecky will swim for world berths and US crowns Wednesday in the 200 free, Friday in the 400 free and Saturday in the 1,500 free.

Nathan Adrian, a five-time Olympic and world champion on relays, out-touched Caeleb Dressel at the wall to win his eighth US title in the men’s 100 freestyle in 47.96, edging double Rio relay gold medalist Dressel by .01.

Jack Conger, who helped the US 4x200 freestyle relay win Rio Olympic gold, captured the men’s 200 butterfly in 1:54.47, beating Pace Clark by .11 of a second. Top seed Chase Kalisz, who took Rio 400 individual medley silver, was third in 1:54.79.

Hali Flickinger, who finished seventh at last year’s Rio Olympics, claimed her second women’s 200 butterfly national crown in 2:07.60, beating Dakota Luther by 1.11 seconds.

True Sweetser, the 2015 US runner-up, won the men’s 1,500 free in 14:59.73 with Robert Finke in second, 1.58 seconds back. since turning pro in 2013. The 38-year-old Philippines senator has knocked sparring partners down in training and said he’s feeling better than he has in a while.

Roach said the training camp has been more like a vintage Pacquiao preparation.

“The thing is, in sparring, we haven’t had knockdowns and knockouts in a long time. This time we did,” the legendary trainer said. “Manny has been his old self, having fun and doing what he does best.”

Pacquiao said he likes to fight boxers in front of their home crowd, and recalled a similar bout with Marco Antonio Barrera at San Antonio, Texas, in 2003.

“I feel excited for the fight. Everything is all set,” he said. “I like to fight a home advantage of my opponent so that there are a lot of fans cheering for him. That gives me a lot of motivation, determination and focus to win the fight.

“I’m not taking it lightly. I’m seriously
