Al-Seyassah Staff and Agencies KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: A 21-year-old Kuwaiti citizen was arrested for murdering a 38-year Islamic preacher who is popular in Kuwait.

According to security sources, the preacher had visited the suspect’s house in Qairawan area on the day of the incident, as he was a friend of the youth’s father.

The youth sat in his car outside the house and then followed the preacher when the latter left the house and went to his own in Salwa area. After taking note of the preacher’s home address, the youth went to Kabad area and purchased a knife from a cooperative society. He then went back to Salwa area and sent a letter to the preacher, requesting for a loan. The preacher responded, asking him to wait until he finishes the Fajr prayers. After that, the youth invited the preacher to his house in Qairawan area, and the latter agreed. As they were nearing the house, the youth suggested changing the plans and visiting the beach in Sharq area. While they were discussing about the youth’s father, the youth suddenly stabbed the preacher in his heart, killing him.

After realizing the preacher had died, the youth took him to Amiri Hospital. However, when he saw some securitymen there, he became afraid and went to Sabah Hospital where he dumped the body of the preacher and fled. He then went to his house in Qairawan area and informed his father about the incident.

The father, shocked by what his son did, went to Sabah Hospital and confirmed that his son murdered the preacher.

Capital securitymen arrested the youth, who denied the allegations. The suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution and a case was filed.

Ex-MP in illicit affair:

The Public Prosecution Tuesday referred to the Criminal Court a complaint filed by a Kuwaiti woman against a former MP.

She accused the former MP of deceiving her into having a sexual affair with him under the promise of official customary marriage thereafter, but he later backed down on his promise after several sexual escapades.

The Public Prosecution filed charges against the suspect after hearing the victim’s side of the story and summoned the former lawmaker for investigations.

The legal team of the plaintiff has included charges for which punishment might extend to life imprisonment.

In her complaint, the woman explained that she went to the MP in June 2015 for help with a job. He then took down her mobile number and started sending her love messages. He then expressed his love for her, promising to marry her. An affair began between them and she eventually fell into the trap of the lawmaker who only wanted to sleep with her and nothing more. When she later expressed her readiness for marriage, he refused. This led her to file the lawsuit against him.
