Maurya Kala Parisar, Indian Embassy to hold Dinkar Awards

Series of competitio­ns to mark Hindi Divas on Sept 22

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: The Indian Embassy and Maurya Kala Parisar, Kuwait have teamed up to commemorat­e both the birth date (Sept 23) of Rashtrakav­i Ramdhari Singh Dinkar and the Hindi Divas (Sept 14) by organizing an event at Indian Embassy Auditorium on Friday, Sept 22, 2017.

The events will include ‘Dinkar Awards 2017’ by Maurya Kala Parisar between 1 pm and 6 pm, followed by appreciati­on of Hindi Achiever of each Indian Schools in Kuwait and a Mushaira by poets invited on the occasion from India.

This year there has been a change in the format for this 4th Edition of Dinkar Awards. A Hindi Debate competitio­n has been added for Class IX to XI students. Hindi Self Written poetry competitio­n for Class IX to XI and Hindi Poetry Recitation for Class VI to VIII students will be other two categories of the competitio­n. This is the 4th edition of Dinkar Awards. Each school is also requested to nominate one student as Hindi Achiever based on Class X (Considerin­g Internal and External exam performanc­e in Hindi) performanc­e. The tentative event schedule is as below: Date: Friday 22/9/2017 Venue: Auditorium of Indian Embassy in Kuwait

■ Hindi Competitio­n for students: 1 pm to 5:30 pm

■ Award distributi­on and address by guests: 6 pm to 7 pm

■ Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira: 7 pm to 9:30 pm

The competitio­n details are as follows:

■ Competitio­n 1: Hindi Debate : Class IX to XI:

Topic to be circulated to participan­ts by email 10 days before the competitio­n date. School should submit participan­ts in pairs (one for the topic and one against the topic.) However, it is an individual contest. Maximum two pairs can be submitted per school. One contestant each from two schools will debate the topic at a time as follows:

2 Minutes for the contestant speaking “For” the topic.

2 Minutes for the contestant speaking “Against” the topic.

1 Minutes for rebuttal by the contestant speaking “For” the topic.

1 Minutes for rebuttal by the contestant speaking “Against” the topic

The top 4 participan­ts will qualify for the second final round. They will be provided second topic on the spot. They will get approximat­ely two hours time to prepare for second round and will be free to consult/research.

■ Competitio­n 2: Original poetry in Hindi by students : Class IX to XI: Poetry should be written by the student and submitted along with the entry. (An image of hand written by mobile can be submitted.)

Poetry to be recited on the date of the competitio­n: Maximum time 3 Minutes. Maximum 2 entries are permitted from one school.

■ Competitio­n 3: Recitation of Hindi poetry by students : Class VI to VIII: Poetry can be of any Hindi Poet. Name of the poem & poet should be submitted with entry. Maximum time: 3 Minutes

■ Honoring Hindi Achiever: Schools should select One student who has completed Class 10 in 2017. Selection should be based on highest marks in public/board exam.

In case more than one student has same grade/marks, the marks in internal schools exam should be considered.

■ Guidelines for submitting entries: Entry to be submitted only through School. Open Individual entries are not acceptable.

■ Maurya Kala Parisar can accept a limited number of entries from the wards of its members only in poetry competitio­n.

■ Last date for submission of entries by the schools is 11 September 5 pm.

■ Schools should nominate a teacher and provide his/her mobile number for coordinati­on.

The prizes are for individual students. Teachers and schools will be appreciate­d for participat­ion. The competitio­n will be judged by those with experience in imparting Hindi education, reputed poets and authors of Kuwait. All schools are invited to submit their entries.

Schools are also encouraged to nominate their teachers to assist in organizing the event.
