Tons of Indian shrimps flood market despite ban – report
‘Unholy sex’ offered by males at massage parlour
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 26: About 183,000 tons of Indian shrimps have sneaked into the country and flooded the Kuwaiti markets despite a ban issued on their import, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
According to an informed source, Indian shrimps found their way to the Kuwaiti markets despite ministerial decisions that banned them due to white spot disease (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis).
Kuwait Municipality ignored the ban for more than 20 days. During that period, a shipment came to Kuwait and reached points of sale before the municipality could send a circular to the entry points.
The ministerial decisions were issued in January 2017 and were published in the official gazette, but the border points were sent the circular on February 9.
The source accused the concerned authorities of “sleeping on duty” for failing to implement the decisions on the ban, affirming that their negligence paved way for the flooding of the markets with the banned shrimps.
Indicating that large quantities of these shrimps are still stocked for trade to this day, he urged Kuwait Municipality to take necessary measures to withdraw the remaining quantity of the banned shrimps off the shelves.
Meanwhile, an official held Directorate General for Customs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Kuwait Municipality’s Public Relations Department accountable for this oversight.
‘Unholy sex’ offered:
A Kuwaiti citizen lodged a complaint at the Department of Criminal Investigations against a massage center, alleging that a masseur offered unholy sex at a cost of KD 15, reports Al-Rai daily.
He explained to investigators that the massage center is managed by two Egyptian expatriates and has employed 10 masseurs from Egypt and Syria including minors.
According to sources, a team was formed by the department after obtaining a warrant from the Public Prosecution. Investigations to verify the complaint were then launched, during which an undercover agent was sent to the center to request for a “special session”. The managers then summoned all the masseurs and asked him to pick whom he wanted for the session. After agreeing on a particular masseur and the payment, the team of officers raided the center and arrested all the employees including the two managers.
The suspects were referred to the office of the Criminal Investigations Department.
During interrogations, it was discovered that the manager would get KD 10 and the masseur would get KD 5 from each session.
Further investigations are ongoing to find out more information.
