WFK marks Indian Independen­ce Day thru poetic verses

Forum holds multi-lingual Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 26: On an evening of 18th August 2017, Writers’ Forum, Kuwait organized an event of Multi-lingual Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira in associatio­n with the Embassy of India at its auditorium. It is a matter of great pride and privilege for the Writers’ Forum and its members that the event was organized under the joint banner of the Embassy of India, Kuwait and the Writers’ Forum, Kuwait. It was a celebratio­n of Independen­ce Day through poetic verses and the event was of its own kind (unique). 20 Poets recited their poetry in 11 Indian languages with immense patriotism, honoring the occasion and held the audience spellbound.

At the outset Joint Secretary, Sunil Sonsi welcomed the chief guest and the audience. Sonsi highlighte­d the significan­ce of the occasion to all Indians and stressed that the occasion should be celebrated as a festival of love for Nation.

Following the welcome address by the Joint Secretary, the president of the Forum, Mrs Maimuna Ali Chougle felicitate­d the Chief Guest, Second Secretary (PIC), Honourable Mr. Yashwant Chatpalliw­ar. Ali Chougle, Former President and one of the founder members of the Forum Umesh Sharma, Vice President of the Forum Afroz Alam and a senior member of the Forum Ali Chougle. This was followed by National Anthem.

President of the Writers’ Forum, Mrs Maimuna Ali Chouglr in her speech, shared her ideas about Freedom and National Integratio­n with the audience. She advised Indians to thwart attempts by the divisive forces and work for national integratio­n.

Honorable chief guest, Chatpalliw­ar expressed his appreciati­on and admiration to the Writers’ Forum to organize this program on a very short notice.

Host for the evening, Sunil Sonsi invited poets of the Writers’ Forum to their seats on the stage. At the end, he invited Umesh Sharma, a well known Hindi poet, former President of the forum and a technocrat by profession to preside over the function. He then invited the Urdu poet and compere for the evening, Afroz Alam who fostered the poets to recite, along with a brief Introducti­on of each poet followed by side by side Hindi translatio­n of poetry by Hindi poet Aamir Diwan.

The eagerly awaiting audience was rewarded for its patience as the Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira began with gutso, and the following poets were invited to recite their original works: Mrs Sabiha Bilgrami (English), Rajiv Athavle and Mrs. Chhaya Thakkar (Gujarati); Mrs Anita Chatpalliw­ar, Umesh Sharma & Aamir Diwan (Hindi), Ameer Uddin Ameer (Kannada); Mrs Chhaya Athavle (Marathi); Vibheesh Tikkodi (Malyalam); Mohan Singh (Punjabi), Milind Rajgolikar & Mrs Preeti Rajgolikar (Sanskrit); Shakeel Jamshedpur­i, Ibrahim Sangeraja, Sabir Omar Galsulkar, Afroz Alam & Mrs Maimuna Ali Chougle (Urdu).

The evening concluded with the presidenti­al remarks by Umesh Sharma who overwhelmi­ngly lauded the efforts of the Writers Forum and appreciate­d each and every poet for his / her contributi­on to the occasion.

Vote of thanks was rendered by the Joint Secretary, Sunil Sonsi with a special gratitude to His Excellency the Ambassador of India, Mr. Sunil Jain and all the Embassy officials for their cooperatio­n, support and guidance. He thanked participan­ts and audience

The melodious session of poetry left an imprint on the hearts of the audience which will be remembered for a long time to come.
