Zakat preps for sacrificial sheep project
Eid Al-Adha project to be executed in 21 countries: Al-Jerri
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: Director of Foreign Activities at Zakat House Adel Al-Jerri said the administration is getting ready for 2017 external sacrificial sheep for Eid Al-Adha. He added the project is one of the most important ventures the Zakat House Al-Jerri supervises each year, and response is always high in that regard, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Al-Jerri explained the project is about providing sacrificial meat for orphans, students and poor families in countries where the projects are executed to show compassion and humanity as enshrined in Islam that stipulates sharing the moment of happiness with fellow Muslims. He stated the project will be executed in 21 countries by the grace of Allah Almighty.
He pointed out the type of sacrificial animal for the project will be sheep estimated at KD 25-KD 40 in all countries, except Egypt where a cow worth KD500 will be slaughtered for seven persons.
He stressed that sheep in Mauritania costs KD 35 and sold for KD 40 in Sudan and Yemen, while in some African countries such as Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya it’s KD 25.
In Djibouti and Burkina Faso, the price of sheep is KD 30, while it is sold for KD 35 in Gambia, Senegal and Niger respectively, and KD 40 in Mali.
The price of sheep in Asia varies from country to country. It is sold for KD 35 in Pakistan, KD 40 in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan, China, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It could be purchased for KD 35 in Moscow.
