‘Relocate power transformers’
‘Homes at risk’
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: Municipal Council member Mohammad Al-Mu’ajil has urged Kuwait Municipality to approve the citizens’ request to move the transformers away from private residences, reports Al-Anba daily.
Al-Mu’ajil said the country has been witness to massive fires lately, which necessitate moving the transformers away from private residences to distances the Ministry of Electricity and Water deem appropriate so as to protect life and property.
He insisted the building owners should bear the cost of transfer, and noted Kuwait Municipality has received applications from several citizens in that regard.
He reiterated “it’s appropriate for Kuwait Municipality to approve of such requests equally without exception, especially as it won’t cost the State a dime.”
He admonished officials to consider the need to site the transformers away from residential homes while allocating new areas and cities.
Meanwhile, Al-Mu’ajil is pressing for the approval of accommodation for Imams and Muezzins outside the mosque premises.
He pointed out that living close to the mosques will make life easy for them, and they would not be contending with traffic jam or moving from one area to another.
He stressed the large number of mosques to be constructed in the new cities makes this proposal very necessary.
