Around 9,000 young job-seekers submitted their applications

No need now of muezzins in mosques: Sheikha Al-Jassim

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: The 60th registration period for people to apply for jobs in the public sector ended last Friday.

The two-week period witnessed a record number of applications being submitted to the Civil Service Commission (CSC), reports Aljarida daily.

About 9,000 young applicants submitted their applications. The previous registration periods had never seen such demand for work in the public sector.

Meanwhile, sources from CSC affirmed that the Central Employment Agency will classify jobseekers starting from Sept 8, whereby it will give higher priority for employment to the new applicants, followed by those who had applied in the past and had either rejected the state institutions to which they were appointed or were rejected by the state institutions.

Meanwhile, Assistant Professor of Philosophy Department at Kuwait University Sheikha Al-Jassim says there is no need now for muezzins in mosques, reports Al-Shahed daily.

Al-Jassim said this while commenting on the statistics issued by Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs which highlighted that there are 1,740 nonKuwaiti muezzins in the country.

She is of the opinion that there is no need for muezzins, suggested that they be replaced by a central radio station affiliated to Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and a recorded Adhan (call to prayer) that works based on local time of the area.
