KUWAIT CITY, Aug 28: The Indonesian Embassy in Kuwait under the auspices of Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait Tatang Budie Utama Razak inaugurated last weekend the Sports Fest at the Al Nasser Sports Complex in Ishbilya in commemoration of the 72nd Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

Razak welcomed all the participants to the event aimed at fostering camaraderie among their nationals as well as various Indonesian community organisations.

The sports fest opened with a brief programme as players in Futsal, badminton, volleyball and table tennis took the oath of sportsmanship.

The first day was marked by power-packed futsal and badminton matches.

Futsal or futsala is a variant of association football played on a hard court, smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It can be considered a version of five-a-side football.

small sided football game that is widely played across the world and is officially recognised by both UEFA and FIFA.

The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure, and is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for football competencies that can be translated into the 11-a-side format of the game.

Aside from the futsal and badminton participants also had a taste of Indonesian cuisine in between breaks as they exchanged pleasantries with one another.

“We would like to thank everyone who participated in the opening of the sports fest and it’s heartwarming to see everyone having fun,” quipped Ambassador Razak.
