Protégés unveil ‘Kamala’
Ooredoo enriching youth culture
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: Ooredoo, Kuwait’s fastest network, hosted the seventh generation of the Protégés in its head office last week, to deliver a presentation of their final project. The students unveiled their project ‘Kamala’, an Arabic card game aimed at educating youth about famous Arab cultural and historic figures.
In a presentation to Ooredoo, represented by CSR and Sponsorships manager Sarah Al-Qabandi, the students explained that the proceeds, once launched, will be donated to rebuild an educational facility in one of the countries in the Arab world. A statement issue by the seventh generation of the Protégés stressed that the aim of the project is to reconnect youth with their Arab heritage and culture. “We chose to donate the proceeds to an educational facility in one of the countries in the region that will be announced in due time, because we believe that education is the building block of society,” read the statement.
On its part, Ooredoo Kuwait reiterated its pride in supporting such a talented cohort of ambitious youth such as the 7th Generation of the Protégés. Ooredoo Kuwait’s Corporate Communications Senior Director Mijbil Alayoub noted, “We are proud of the project delivered by the students in conclusion of their program. The project fits well into the values of Ooredoo: caring, connecting, and challenging. We are eager to Kamala launched into the market, and we are certain that it will be received positively.”
Alayoub added, “We had a successful partnership with the Protégés two years in a row. They embody a number of great values that we strongly believe in, such as challenging and connecting.” He added: “The program focuses on a number of core values and skills such as tolerance, critical thinking, and creativity, which are important assets in creating future leaders. It has achieved unparalleled success throughout the years, and we look forward to meeting the graduates of 7th generation of the Protégés.”
Alayoub also reiterated that Ooredoo is keen on supporting initiatives aimed at youth development, and emphasized on the importance of the partnership with various state sectors to accomplish this target.
Last month, Ooredoo participated in a trip to the two European cities of Berlin and Prague with the 7th generation of the Protégés, the youth development program. Representing Ooredoo during the trip was CSR, Sponsorship and Social Media manager Yousef Al-Shallal, who delivered a number of motivational workshops and speeches for the students centered around risk management, social media, and entrepreneurship. The trip, which took place last week, also included several activities in cultural and educational institutes in the two European cities. All the program participants received free Ooredoo lines with pre-activated Ooredoo Passport roaming plans, to help them get in touch with their families in Kuwait.
At the beginning of the program in June, Ooredoo organized a 24-hour challenge to the Protégés students in the company’s head office, aimed at encouraging students’ critical thinking and teamwork efforts. The 24-hour challenge included a number of presentations by Ooredoo Kuwait representatives from a variety of departments, in addition to workshops and inspirational talks by guest speakers. The challenge culminated in a presentation prepared by the students demonstrating their understanding of the telecom market in Kuwait, where they were tasked
