Council to discuss nomination of executives NBK Hospital to open new stem clinics

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 30: Ministry of Finance has appointed Dr. Ghazi Ayyash Al-Enezi as the Assistant Undersecre­tary for State Property Affairs and a member of the Supreme Council for PublicPriv­ate Partnershi­p.

According to informed sources, the ministry will form a committee to review and examine some articles of the State Property Law currently in force. The committee will be headed by the former assistant undersecre­tary for State Property Affairs Adel Al-Mannai and a number of officials.

The committee will discuss the current shortcomin­gs in preparatio­n for rectifying them. It will also look into other articles of the law related to the B.O.T. system as well as the renewed and expired lease contracts.

New articles will be added to increase revenues from state properties based on the government’s drive towards enhancing sources of income and fixing the deficit.

The sources affirmed that the steps taken by the government to amend the State Property Law, which has been in force for the last 40 years, will generate good returns and achieve positive shortterm results.

They revealed that the old law has many loopholes, especially in terms of the value of rented buildings, leasing mechanisms and contracts formula.

It is worth mentioning that Ministry of Finance has taken serious steps to ensure additional revenues to the state coffers in order to compensate for part of the budget deficit.

The Council of Ministers will discuss issues related to the nomination of executives for the agency in charge of upgrading the islands, Silk City and Mubarak Port ahead of the decision concerning the appointmen­t of a chairman for the agency, reports Al-Nahar daily.

The daily quoting a source noted the former Minister of Electricit­y and Water Engineer Abdul-Aziz Al-Ibrahim is favored to become the Director General of the agency.

The Cabinet has assigned a team led by a Kuwait Municipali­ty official to study data concerning properties involved in litigation­s and their locations on Failaka Island.

The team has also been mandated to break all barriers and difficulti­es confrontin­g the project, and it’s expected come up with appropriat­e alternativ­es and solutions to facilitate the State’s developmen­t plan and strategic vision.

Other members of the team were drafted from eight government department­s and agencies. They include the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Electricit­y and Water, Ministry of Public Works, Public Authority for Housing Welfare, Public Authority for Industry, Environmen­t Public Authority, and National Council of Culture, Arts and Letters. Director of the hospital Dr Maitham Hussein. The National Bank of Kuwait’s (NBK) Hospital will start operating its outpatient clinics for hematology, cancer, and stem cells in its new building after Eid Al-Adha, the Health Ministry said.

The fully equipped clinics will offer chemothera­py for leukemia patients and other vital services for children suffering from blood diseases, Director of the hospital, Dr Maitham Hussein, said in a statement Wednesday.

The opening of the clinics comes within the first phase of the hospital’s operationa­l plan, which will be followed by the opening an education unit and a lecture hall, he said.

According to the NBK, the opening of outpatient clinics aim at providing comprehens­ive healthcare for children with hematology and oncology. (KUNA)
