Trio held for forging US dollars
The Court of First Instance presided over by Judge Mohammad Mutlaq Al-Mutairi imposed a fine of KD 3,000 on a youth who was convicted of publishing words deemed offensive and immoral against a woman on social media. The court ordered the referral of the case to a special civil court.
The counsel to the victim Lawyer Mohammad Khaleel Al-Qattan said anyone who incites others to commit immoral activities or assists in doing so through the Internet is liable to be punished by a jail term not exceeding a year any/ or a fine between KD 2,000 and KD 5,000, as per the Cybercrime Law.
Lawyer Al-Qattan also said the law stipulates that illegal access resulting in cancellation, deletion, destruction, change or republication of data or information will attract penalty of two-year imprisonment and/ or fine of KD 2,000 to KD 5,000.
He explained that, in case of illegal access for acquiring confidential personal/government data or information, the violator will be sentenced to three years in prison and/ or fined KD 3,000 to KD 10,000.
Anyone who acquires such data or information with the intention of erasing, destroying, publishing or amending it will face up to ten years in prison and/or a fine of KD 5,000 to KD 20,000.
If anyone forges, damages or deletes an electronic system or website, he or she will face jail term not exceeding three years and/or a fine of KD 3,000 to KD 10,000.
Agencies add: Forgers nabbed:
Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department have arrested two Kuwaitis and an Arab expatriate on the accusation of forging Kuwaiti dinars and US dollars.
General Department of Public Relations and Security Media in the Interior Ministry stated the Hawalli Investigation Department received information about the activities of the three suspects and took necessary legal steps to nail them. They were arrested in possession of 50,000 counterfeit KD 20 notes and one million counterfeit hundred US dollar notes, in addition to printing machine. All three suspects were referred to relevant authorities.
80,000 pills seized:
An unidentified expatriate was arrested in possession of 80,000 Captagon pills that were hidden in secret compartments inside his truck.
In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, General Department of Public Relations and Security Media revealed that the Drugs Control General Department, after receiving information about the drug smuggling operation carried out by an expatriate, formed a team and launched investigations.
After confirming the information that proved his illicit activities and taking necessary legal measures, the officer caught him red-handed driving his truck which contained large number of Captagon pills.
He was referred with the contraband to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
Destroying evidence:
A bedoun barged into Drug Registration Department of the Ministry of Health claiming to be an employee of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and asked the administration to hand him over evidences related to the case of fake doctor, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Reportedly, the same man was arrested by the Criminal Evidences Department for practicing medicine without a licence and promoting himself in the social media and when he was arrested police had seized from him drugs used to induce abortion and other banned drugs and supplements that are unsuitable for human consumption.
Informed security sources said the Public Prosecution has now requested the Criminal Investigations Department to investigate the complaint that has filed by Department of Drug Registration of the Ministry of Health. According to the complaint two unidentified persons entered the Department impersonating employees of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and after one of the expatriate employees handed them the evidence (the seized medicines) they destroyed it.
The source added the two persons were released on bail. However, they were recognized by the expatriate who handed them the evidence and his female Kuwaiti female when they were shown the pictures.
The sources also said Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health tried to cover up the issue to protect the expatriate employee of the charge of bribery.
Minister of Health Dr Jamal AlHarbi who was told about the incident, has notified the Public Prosecution and referred the Assistant Undersecretary and the expatriate employee to the legal Affairs Department for Investigation since the expatriate employee reportedly attempted to attack his female colleague when he learned that she had informed the senior official in the department about the case.
Judge to the rescue:
In a humanitarian move, the Court of Appeals judge helped a 20-year-old bedoun to obtain a health certificate from the Ministry of Health, reports AlQabas daily.
The daily added the court had ruled in favor of the bedoun two years ago but the concerned authorities had failed to honor the verdict.
