Kuwait Goan Association crowned League Champions
Don Bosco Oratory snatch Super Cup
IBy Julio Cardoso
n an exciting finale to bring down the curtains for the KIFF Football season, Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) proved superior on the day to outclass KIFF League Champions Kuwait Goan Association (KGA) 3-1 to take home the KIFF Super Cup organized by the Federation.
Having already been crowned champions for the J. P. D’Mello Rolling Trophy powered by Gulf Cable and Electrical Co. K.S.C.P. and contested by 13 registered affiliates, KGA ran out of steam in the second half, conceding three goals and were lucky to score one due to a simple error by DBO keeper Allan D’Souza who otherwise had a great game. Allan ensured the first half remained goalless with a couple of fine saves to deny the dangerous Rafi and Anas. Even though the first half was evenly fought, it was Honda’s darting runs on the right flank that created the more dangerous moves for KGA. DBO on the other hand created some good opportunities with the young and talented Aftab, Agnelo and Loyed combining well to create chances in the KGA half.
The second half was however the Cleto Gomes show, as immediately upon resumption, he opened the scoring from a rebound to give DBO the lead. With the KGA players losing steam, DBO went for the kill with Cleto Gomes completing a fine hat-trick and although Nijesh did pull one back for the KGA, Don Bosco Oratory went on to win comfortably 3-1.
