KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9, (KUNA): Minister of Health Dr Jamal Al-Harbi declared on Saturday that the Kuwaiti Health Office in Washington had successfully evacuated all Kuwaiti patients from US regions that were later swept by the hurricane Irma.

Minister Al-Harbi said in a statement that the office evacuated 40 Kuwaiti patients from the regions that were later hit by the hurricane to safe areas in the US.

The ministry covered expenses for transportation and housing at hotels close to hospitals in the regions that were not targeted by the hurricane.

For his part, Dr Ali Al-Enezi, the Head of the Kuwaiti Health Office in Washington, said 40 Kuwaiti patients who were undergoing treatment at six hospitals in Florida were successfully moved.

Four children undergoing treatment at a Miami hospital were kept there after the management recommended not to move them.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Cultural Office in Washington called on Kuwaiti students, who were evacuated from Florida to Atlanta, Georgia, in the wake of Hurricane Irma, to keep in constant contact with a government emergency team present in the city.

The team includes staff from the Kuwaiti ministries of foreign affairs, defence and interior along with the Cultural Office, office Director Dr Aseel Al-Awadhi told KUNA.

Students who have not yet departed the state of Florida were urged to contact the Cultural Office and notify staff on their situation.
