Chiefs star Berry to miss ‘season’

-

KANSAS, Sept 9, (RTRS): Kansas City Chiefs star strong safety Eric Berry will miss the remainder of the season after rupturing his left Achilles’ tendon in Thursday’s season-opening victory over the New England Patriots.

Berry suffered the injury while covering New England tight end Rob Gronkowski in the fourth quarter. He began hobbling as the play concluded, was treated on the field and eventually carted off to the locker room.

An MRI exam conducted Friday confirmed the injury.

US District Court judge Amos Mazzant III granted a request by the NFL Players Association for a temporary restraining order to prevent the implementation of the sixgame suspension for Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.

Elliott’s suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy was set to begin on Monday, one day after he was eligible to compete in the Cowboys’ season-opening game against the NFC East rival New York Giants.

New Orleans Saints long snapper Jon Dorenbos will require open-heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm that was discovered in a physical after his trade from the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Saints discovered the condition Thursday during a followup physical.

New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower is believed to have suffered a minor MCL sprain in Thursday night’s season-opening loss to Kansas City.

Hightower could play in week two against the New Orleans Saints on Sept 17, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Friday.
