Al-Zaabi dedicates achievement to Amir
Kuwaiti photographer among 32 chosen globally marking Nikon’s 100th ’versary
TOKYO, Sept 12, (KUNA): Kuwaiti photographer Majed Sultan Al-Zaabi was chosen as one of 32 photographers to represent four types of photography in eight countries in Asia, the Pacific, Middle East and Africa, spearheading a showcase of the latest Nikon D850 camera. In a statement to KUNA, Al-Zaabi dedicated this achievement to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in commemoration of naming His Highness the Humanitarian Leader by the UN.
“I feel proud to belong to the state of goodness and humanity and I am happy when I convey a picture that may contribute in lifting the suffering of a human being,” he said.
For his part, General Manager of the International Business Division Imaging Group, Nikon Singapore Pte Ltd, Hiroki Yamaoka, said “we are delighted to be working with 32 great photographers in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and Africa,” adding the photographer’s vast experience in photography will help to deliver outstanding content and will highlight the best D850 features as well as presenting them to a wide audience in the photography community. Al-Zaabi is one of the most prominent figures in the field of documenting charitable work, where he documented many events with the Direct Aid Society, including the famine of Somalia and northern Kenya and many charitable projects in Africa and other countries.
Al-Zaabi has won more than 100 international photography awards and he is also an active member in social media and has an educational channel on YouTube as well as many local and international workshops where he also published many of the pictures in the National Geographer.
Four expert photographers from each of Nikon’s local offices were selected in eight regions including Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Middle East and Africa to represent four types of photography, event photography, nature and commercial photography.
The company was founded in 1917 and has since worked on building its position as a leader in optical technology in Japan and abroad.
