Kuwait, US seek closer civil aviation cooperatio­n: DGCA

Kuwaiti, Italian officials discuss prep for economic forum

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12, (KUNA): The Directorat­e General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) affirmed Tuesday keenness to boost cooperatio­n ties with US civil aviation authoritie­s.

Kuwait seeks to benefit from the US experience in airports management, DGCA’s Director General Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said, cited by a DGCA’s statement.

Sheikh Salman made his remarks after meeting earlier with Carl Burleson, Deputy Assistant Administra­tor of Policy, Internatio­nal Affairs, and Environmen­t at the US Federal Aviation Administra­tion (FAA), in Washington DC.

He reiterated DGCA’s aspiration to bolster joint cooperatio­n with FAA, wishing that US civil aviation bodies can overcome hazards of the ongoing hurricanes in their country.

For his part, Burleson expressed his joy towards outcomes of talks with the Kuwaiti delegation, indicating that it is FAA’s first ever high-level meeting with DGCA.

He wished for further joint coop- eration in civil aviation field with Kuwait and other countries in the Middle East region.

Meanwhile, DGCA mentioned that the Kuwaiti-US talks focused on finding ways to strengthen the two nations’ cooperatio­n in airports’ safety and security.

Talks also addressed ways to boost bilateral cooperatio­n in training, developmen­t, and human resources growth to improve the skills of Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport’s workers and enhance employees’ work efficiency.

Sheikh Salman and Burleson also agreed to exchange visits and intensify bilateral meetings to benefit from the American expertise in running airports via use of modern technology.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ambassador in Rome Sheikh Ali Khaled Al-Sabah held talks with President of the Italian-Arab Chamber of Commerce on preparatio­ns for an economic forum, grouping Italian and Arab officials and businessme­n, including from Kuwait.

Sheikh Ali and Pietro Paolo Rampino, Italian Vice-President of the Chamber, discussed deepening of economic relations between Italy and Kuwait within the Chamber, Kuwait Embassy said in a statement.

Sheikh Ali reiterated keenness to promote mutual investment, as well as encouragin­g meetings between Italian and Kuwaiti businessme­n, it said.
