PM hands over written message from Amir to Erdogan

‘Kuwait plays vital role in regional security, stability’

ANKARA, Sept 13, (KUNA): His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, at the onset of his official visit to Turkey on Wednesday, met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Presidenti­al Palace in capital Ankara.

Emerging from the meeting, His Highness the Premier said that he handed over a written message from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to President Erdogan, dealing with the means of boosting bilateral relations and issues of joint concern.

His Highness the Premier indicated that the meeting touched on regional, internatio­nal issues and the two countries’ stances toward these topics.

His Highness, accompanie­d by a delegation of ranking officials, arrived in Ankara, earlier today. His Highness the Premier’s delegation was received at the airport by Turkish Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci and Kuwaiti diplomats.

He expressed in arrival remarks pride of the historic and deep-rooted relations between Kuwait and Turkey, affirming that his visit depicted mutual desire to develop further the close ties.

These relations have recently witnessed tangible improvemen­t in political, commercial, economic, tourist and cultural domains, he said, “however we have always aspired to bolstering the cooperatio­n between the two countries in many other domains.” Kuwait, which views Turkey as a key economic partner, has always sought to deepen the bonds with Ankara, enhancing commercial exchanges and creating new joint investment opportunit­ies, His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak added.

He confirmed that his talks with Turkish leaders would tackle means of cementing the bilateral relations and cooperatio­n at diverse levels.

Meanwhile, Kuwait, under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, plays a vital role in maintainin­g regional security and stability, said Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim Wednesday.

In an exclusive interview with KUNA, Yilidirim indicated that the visit by Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah will contribute to the developmen­t of ties as desired by both Kuwaiti and Turkish leadership­s as well as people.

Bilateral relations are strong and both countries are eager to pursue more cooperativ­e venues, said Yildirim who revealed that there were more than 40 signed agreements and memos between the two nations.

He indicated that cooperatio­n in the defense domain is one of the sectors that his country was eager to develop with Kuwait. He added that regional challenges required such solidarity among world countries.

Yildirim called for expanding the volume of commercial exchange with Kuwait, increasing the number from $1.2 billion in 2016 to $5 billion in the near future.
