‘Jaber Al-Ahmad’ center set to open 1st cultural season
Local, Arab and int’l artistes to participate in ‘From Kuwait We Begin’
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: Local, Arab and international artistes have been selected by Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center for the inauguration of its first cultural season titled “From Kuwait We Begin” slated for this September until next April, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The event includes several activities to be hosted by different theaters affiliated to the center from 8:00 to 8:30 pm, and more activities are expected to be announced in the coming period.
The first event of the season ‘Memoirs of a Sailor’ will be performed on stage at the national theatre for three days consecutively from Sept 19-22. It is a contemporary vision of the song written by poet Mohammed Al-Fayez, composed by Ghannam Al-Dikan in 1979, and sung by Shadi Al-Khaleej and Sana Al-Kharaz.
On Oct 3, the theater will host a concert by Hamoud Al-Khidher, a young Kuwaiti artist who is distinguished by his new artistic method and famous for his positive message. He has performed in several concerts locally and abroad, including the Middle East, East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and North America. He has also participated in many charity concerts and tours to help orphans, such as those recently performed in Italy and Australia.
Egyptian female singer Reeham Abdelhakim, beginning Oct 5, will perform the songs of late eminent Egyptian star singer Um Kalthoum at the Drama Theatre in a concert titled “Kalthoumiyat”. The concert will be repeated on the first Thursday of each month throughout the cultural season, in coordination with voices from the Opera House of the Arab Republic of Egypt led by maestro Dr Emad Ashour and a classical Arab band composed of twenty musicians.
The national theatre is scheduled to host concerts again from 12th of October with Lebanese artist Ragheb Alama, who’s participating in a concert at Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center for
the first time.
Eminent Kuwaiti singer Abdulkareem
Abdulqader will also perform on Nov 14 & 15, followed by London
Philharmonic Orchestra on Nov 16 and 17.
On the 23rd and 24th of the same month, a grand public concert will be
held at the National Theater by maestro Omar Khairat from Egypt.
