KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14, (Agencies): Director General of Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Sheikh Dr Mishael Al-Jaber said the positive role played by foreign companies in the aspect of economic support generated more than a thousand jobs for Kuwaitis; let alone their contributions to economic diversity and national development, reports Al-Anba daily.
In his interview on the sideline of the release of the 2017 report on Kuwait by Britain’s Oxford Business Group (OBG) — a global publishing, research and consultancy firm; Sheikh Al-Jaber disclosed that famous global companies have established long term relations with Kuwait as well as opened training and research centers to realize the country’s vision for 2035.
The 2035 vision encourages enhancement of economic knowledge on one side, and on the other hand, it aims to attract direct foreign investments. It states that Kuwait is fully integrated with the global market through almost 100 bilateral regional agreements in which the country is one of the parties.
Sheikh Al-Jaber added there are nine sectors incorporated in the development plan such as energy, oil, health, education and others. He affirmed Kuwait is keen to see participation of its sectors and allow the private sector to play a major role in the implementation of development projects.
Bird monitoring and protection team of Kuwait Environment Protection Society (KEPS) said Tuesday it is monitoring the impact of climate change on migratory birds and their migration to and from Kuwait during its annual migration from the North to the South and vice versa.
The team during its participation in the assessment of local potential for the development of a national birdwatching activity workshop presented some suggestions and courses of monitoring and protection of birds to increase knowledge about this field, team member Mohammed Khorshid told KUNA. The two-day workshop, organized by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), gathered all those interested in birds monitoring from experts, teams, groups and individuals in the country to present proposals in this regard and to identify scientific gaps, he said.
The team, through monitoring and awareness, is preparing some information materials that contribute to highlighting the positive role of preserving the birds through news about migration and the latest species observed in Kuwait. He pointed out that the team also makes short films highlighting the beauty of the Kuwaiti environment and birds as well as the role of environment protectorates, he added.
