Two ‘smuggling bids’ foiled as drug pills, hashish seized

Meanwhile, Undersecre­tary of Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Mahmoud Mohammad Al-Dousari Wednesday received in his office in Ministry of Interior the US Charge d’affaires Patricia Fitz.

According to a press release issued by Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Al-Dousari and the guest held discussion­s about issues of mutual concern especially in the field of security.

He affirmed the need to strengthen the relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of enhancing security cooperatio­n, and exchange of experience and informatio­n for dealing with issues.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 14: Officers at Air Cargo Unit discovered 4,000 Tramadol pills carefully hidden in a secret compartmen­t of three bags shipped to an Arab expatriate.

A security source said Customs men held the person who tried to claim the bags and he confessed during questionin­g that the items belong to a friend and he’s only trying to help him out since he’s busy. He provided details of the owner to securityme­n and steps were taken to arrest him.

Meanwhile, officers from Ahmadi Security Directorat­e apprehende­d an Arab expatriate in possession of hashish carefully hidden in his clothes upon his return from Iraq.

Maid in suicide bid:

An Asian woman tried to commit suicide by consuming a large quantity of pills inside her sponsor’s house in Mubarak Al-Kabeer area.

According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received informatio­n about the incident from a Kuwaiti woman, securityme­n rushed to the location with paramedics and referred the Kuwaiti woman’s Asian housemaid to Adan Hospital where she was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit.

When questioned, the Kuwaiti woman said she noticed the housemaid crying inside the kitchen three days ago and asked her the reason, to which the housemaid revealed about some problems in her home country.

Actress hunt launched:

Owner of a car rental accused a Kuwaiti actress of breach of trust after she rented a Jeep and refused to return it when the contract expired. In a complaint to officers at the Farwaniya Police Station, owner of the rental company said the Kuwaiti actress took a Jeep from his company for three days and refused to pay the due sum or return the vehicle after the contract expired.

He noted his office tried in vain to reach the actress, and her mobile is switched off. Necessary measures have since been taken to arrest her.

Drunk driver arrested:

A drunken Indian man lost control over his car when he encountere­d patrolmen on the way to Sabah Al-Salem area, reports Al-Rai daily.

In attempt to escape, the Indian motorist hit and damaged the patrol car causing slight injuries to the officers who were inside the car. The two injured officers endured their injuries and managed to arrest the suspect.

A security source said the suspect was in a disoriente­d state during arrest, and the officers discovered he was driving under the influence of alcohol. They took him first to the Abdullah Al-Salem Police Station

and later referred him to the Criminal Evidences Department for further investigat­ion.

Thief caught:

An Arab expatriate was arrested for stealing from parked vehicles. The Public Relations and Media Security Department of Ministry of Interior explained that security authoritie­s, after receiving several complaints about the theft of contents of parked vehicles by breaking the glass of the vehicles, formed a team for investigat­ions. They managed to obtain the records of a surveillan­ce camera that was near the site where the thefts occurred. They noticed a

man breaking the glass of the vehicles and stealing items from them.

After figuring out his identity and taking necessary legal measures, securityme­n arrested him and checked his apartment to find some of the stolen items. They also discovered that seven cases were filed against him. During interrogat­ions, they were informed that he had committed more than 25 thefts about which no reports were received. He was referred to the concerned authoritie­s for further investigat­ions.

GTD crackdown:

Officers from the Capital Traffic Department Wednesday launched a traffic campaign

against vehicles that violate the traffic laws, which resulted in the issuance of citations for various types of violations such as parking in prohibited places, lack of number plates, excessive tinting of glass, posters and stunt performanc­es, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to security sources, the campaign was part of the efforts being exerted by the General Traffic Department (GTD) to ensure safety of road users and work on applying the traffic law.

Such campaigns will continue in the mornings and evenings with the aim of curbing violations, arresting offenders and reducing accidents that occur due to violation of traffic rules and speeding.
